Pastoral Care Counselor

Mental Health Coach

My name is Kathie McBride

I'm a Board Certified Professional Mental Health Coach with over 20 years of experience walking alongside individuals through life's most difficult seasons. My background includes pastoral counseling, leadership, crisis intervention, and serving as an EMT, giving me firsthand experience supporting people during moments of trauma, uncertainty, and crisis. I also have experience working with law enforcement officers, first responders, and their families, understanding the unique emotional and mental health challenges that often accompany lives of service.

Before becoming a mental health coach, I served as a pastor in New York for nearly two decades, where I had the privilege of helping people navigate grief, trauma, relationship struggles, life transitions, and spiritual growth. I later earned my Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health and became a Board Certified Professional Mental Health Coach with advanced training in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and suicide awareness.

My passion for helping others is deeply personal. I'm a devoted mother of three and a blessed grandmother of four. My own journey has included years of chronic pain, living with a rare kidney disease, experiencing deep loss, and overcoming trauma. Through God's faithfulness, resilience, and a miraculous healing, my greatest struggles became the foundation for the work I do today.

I believe healing is possible. No matter where you've been or what you're facing, you don't have to walk through it alone. Through Renewed Hope & Wellness Coaching, I provide a compassionate, faith-centered space where you can be heard without judgment, discover practical tools for healing, renew your mind, and move from simply surviving to living with renewed hope, purpose, and peace.

It is my honor to walk alongside you as you take your next step toward healing and wholeness.

I am a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming life coach with over five years of experience specializing in supporting individuals who are neurodivergent or navigating significant seasons of change.
I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are rebuilding their sense of self after a diagnosis, a major life transition, or a prolonged season of simply surviving — and who are ready to move toward clarity, confidence, and sustainable growth.

I hold a Master's Degree in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Life Coaching, along with a post-graduate certificate in Business Leadership Communication. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, grounded in safety, self-compassion, and practical tools that support real-life progress — not pressure, not perfection.

Lived Experience That Informs My Work

In addition to my professional training, I am a homeschool mother of three with over fifteen years. I have walked closely alongside children and adolescents with diverse learning styles, needs, and strengths.
That lived experience runs deep in my work, particularly when supporting neurodivergent students, families navigating educational decisions, and young people preparing for adulthood in nontraditional ways.

I am also a Step Up for Students Direct Provider in Florida, offering coaching to Unique Abilities (UA) scholarship students in the areas of career exploration, self-advocacy, life skills, and employability readiness. Beyond Florida, I work with self-pay clients worldwide — supporting individuals across many stages and seasons of life.

Life Coaching at Mara Grace Counseling

Purposeful Guidance for the Life You're Building

At Mara Grace Counseling, we believe healing and growth look different for everyone.
Sometimes what you need is a trusted guide to help you clarify your direction, move through a transition,
or step into who God created you to be. That's where life coaching comes in.

Our coaches bring professional skill, personal warmth, and a faith-informed perspective to every session -
walking alongside you as you move toward the life you're called to live.

Coaching vs. Counseling — What's the Difference?

Both counseling and coaching are valuable, but they serve different purposes.

  • Counseling is a clinical service focused on healing. It addresses mental health concerns, past trauma, emotional disorders, grief, and other conditions that benefit from therapeutic treatment.
At Mara Grace Counseling, our counselors and interns are trained to diagnose and treat.

  • Life Coaching is forward-focused. It's not about diagnosing or treating — it's about growth, clarity, and forward movement. Coaching helps you identify where you want to go, what's getting in the way, and how to take meaningful steps forward.

Think of it this way: counseling tends the wounds; coaching builds the road ahead.

Not sure which is right for you? We're happy to help you figure that out.
Reach out and we'll answer any questions to help you find the right direction for you.

Could Life Coaching Be a Good Fit for You?

Coaching may be a great fit if you're:

  • Navigating a major life transition - a new job, a move, an empty nest, a divorce, or a season of change you did or didn't choose

  • Feeling stuck but not sure why - you're functioning well but something feels off or unfulfilled

  • Ready to pursue a goal but lacking clarity or accountability - you know something needs to change but don't know where to start

  • Exploring your sense of purpose or calling - asking the big questions about who you are and what you're here for

  • Growing in your faith and wanting guidance - you want space to integrate your beliefs with your everyday decisions and direction

  • Preparing for a major decision - career change, relationship, starting something new

  • Wanting support without a clinical diagnosis — you're emotionally healthy and simply want a thinking partner and skilled guide

  • Rebuilding after a hard season - not in crisis, but rebuilding confidence, identity, or momentum
